About

Les Malheureux is a collaboration between Manchester-based short-short story writers David Gaffney, author of the critically acclaimed collections Sawn-off Tales, Aromabingo, The Half-life Of Songs and More Sawn-off Tales plus the novel Never Never, and Sarah-Clare Conlon, Salt Prize winner and editor of The Manchester Anthology plus Quickies: Short Stories For Adults, which showcases filthy flash fiction from a number of well-known and award-winning writers.

Les Malheureux combines live literature with original music and projections to deliver a new take on spoken word. Expansive emotions, sweeping plots and complex characters are distilled into micro-fictions often no more than 300 words in length – some funny, some profound – and each is performed to specially composed musical pieces against a backdrop of either slide show or PowerPoint presentation. Stranger than fiction…
